Protecting Yourself From The Sun

Dermatologists continue to say the best way to keep your skin looking young and healthy is to protect your skin from the harmful sun rays and do not smoke. Other important known facts are moisturize your skin, cleanse your skin, and limit the amount of alcohol you drink.  According to a survey done in 2012 many people do not realize that sun protection can keep your skin looking younger for years to come. Most people that were surveyed believed that by drinking plenty of water, eating a healthy diet and applying a daily moisturizer would suffice. Leading dermatologist Dr. Ken Landow says that using such measures would not have near the anti ageing impact that a good sun protection product would.

The increase in UV exposure will affect the elastin in the skin which will lead to wrinkles, a leatherness look, blotchy pigmentation and the number one concern skin cancer.

If you are in the sun for long periods of time you can protect yourself by wearing protective clothing such as long pants, a hat with brim and a long sleeve shirt. When selecting your outdoor wardrobe keep in mind that fabric with a tighter weave will offer better protection that fabrics that are loosely woven.
